Like we just recently told you in our ‘Bridge between two continents’ post, we got ourselves an awesome little device called HP Sprocket (a portable photo printer) to have our favourite memories not just stored away on some hard drive but to also be able to carry them with us. In our hands. Pinned to the fridge. Collected and arranged in albums. Something to not just look at on Instagram or other social media, but to browse through ‘in real life’, to never forget those little moments that made us truly happy.
Like a walk in the woods. Or a lemonade in mama’s garden. Or a home cooked dinner enjoyed with friends.
And SO MUCH MORE.
Being in Hannover as residents for the very last time we tried and still try to fill those almost two months with more than the administrative crap and work - we try to spend a lot of time with our families, as well. Eat together at least once a day, have some wine in the evenings, talk, laugh, hug and do other fun stuff. Like going to the lake for a swim, bake together or, the classic, hike. Last Sunday we drove to beautiful national park ‘Harz’ and spent a day out in the woods, crossing rivers, resting at a beautiful lake and afterwards had a nice dinner out on the porch of some mountain hut with bestest strawberry lemonade and caramelised waffles. It’s been an amazing day with perfect weather, warm and breezy. We hiked through the forest, had good conversations and quite a few laughs, made plans for the future, talked life and holidays and outdoor sports. It’s been one of those days where everything makes perfect sense and you feel utterly happy. A day that you wouldn’t want to forget. So, like always, we took a lot of pictures. The kind of photos you take because you want to look at them whenever you feel blue. When we miss our old home and want to go over all those amazing memories we've collected here. Pictures of moments that will forever remind us of how easy life can be sometimes, how effortlessly beautiful.
With us arriving back in Hannover we finally held the HP Sprocket in our hands when we walked through the door three weeks ago. This is the very first time we made use of it. Back home, we picked our fav pictures and printed them - as perfect little reminders for a beautiful summer day. They will be put up in our office in Iceland (which we have yet to find, but whatever). They also will be part of a massive ‘Germany’ album in which we will collect pictures of beloved moments we had - and still are going to have - in our country of origin.
We know we already said it quite a few times by now and you probably are sick of hearing us talk about it but this is the biggest change in our lives, so far. Personally and professionally. We are emigrating - something we’ve been dreaming of for more than 15(!) years by now. We are closing down the company we've built, completely. We are already right in the middle of all the bureaucracy that comes with such a decision. We are starting fresh in Iceland. With something new and exciting. A little hint: it’s gonna be ‘an online thing’ as well, but quite different than everything we’ve done, so far. And we are OVERLY excited. Then there is this BIG project coming up that we are super anxious about. Our German readers will literally see what it is, quite soon. Fact: we are leaving Germany well prepared. We didn’t burn all the bridges but we closed them down. In less than three weeks there is nothing left tying us to this country than our citizenship. And we are intent to change that at some point, as well. It’s been such a crazy whirlwind, those past three years and they came with a lot of changes and sometimes rather hard decisions. But since it brought us to where we are now it’s all good. We are SO looking forward to what is yet to come. Mark the 5th of July in your calendars friends, that’s the day we will finally be back. For now, this is our last ever blog post on this platform. It’s probably the last ever post from Germany. It’s one of the last assignments of our little company. Closing down is scary. A restart like this is intimidating. Letting go of it all that was once reality and safe haven is nerve-wrecking. We still cannot wait. Some beautiful events are down in line for the last three weeks, like a little goodbye dinner and a grand hello to a new family member. <3 And then we leave, for good. We will make damn sure to capture those last moments and have the memories printed. To carry them with us, hang them up, stick them to the walls and build a connection to our families wherever we can in our new homes.
Back in Iceland it’s gonna be hectic. The ‘secret project’ will take some time, this site will be gone and something new needs all of our attention and passion. You might not hear from us for a good month. But if you wanna stick around - we’ll be back on 'the internet' track 5th of July, like mentioned above. There will be some random updates on Insta every now and then but yeah - for now, this is it. Argh, we are SO excited. This is big, friends. Thank you SO much for coming along on this journey for all those years. For all your well wishes and support. For your honest interest and kind words - it’s been awesome to have you with us. This is yet another goodbye and then we hear us from the northern part of the world. Have a great summer, make some amazing memories and talk soon, Linda & Caro! <3
The HP Sprocket
If you ever find yourself in a similar situation or just are a fan of printed out memories then make sure to check out the HP Sprocket for moments to literally hold on to. Get yourself a little treat with the Limited Edition gift box (comes with a rose gold case, a little photo book and 20 pieces of ZINK photo paper) or give it to your best friend for her travels, your daughter for her first trip alone or anybody else you want to connect with. We always loved film photos and polaroids and to us this is another perfect, yet more modern way to get pictures on the go. With it’s rose gold and white appearance the Sprocket is the most pretty little device for your pockets and it fits into even the smallest pack with it’s cellphone size. We love playing around with the Sprocket app to spice up our pictures a little and make them even more unique. Frames, fonts, little stickers - just get creative. If you want to, you can easily connect the device to your Instagram and Facebook and print your fav memories right from your feed, as well. You get if for under 145€ either at the HP homepage or at your local electronics supplier (MediaMarkt in Germany, for example.)
