We all are driven by something. Have a passion, a calling. We feel drawn to paintings, music, nature, sports, people or books. It's easy to find and difficult to live. For us, it all started with traveling. Our parents luckily felt and feel the same love for the world as we do and so for as long as we can remember we have been on journeys. Through Europe and the world. We consider ourselves very lucky that we had such privileges. That we were able to see what this planet has in store for us humans from our early years on. And we fell in love with all of it. The new places and spaces, the people, the always different smell in the air, the way the sunlight had a different color in all those corners of the world, the change in pace, the incredible range of languages, the beauty we got to witness in all four cardinal points, whenever we boarded a train, a plane or the family car to go somewhere new, somewhere exciting. Of course, you don't really consider it your passion when you are younger. It's just something your family does. Like all the other things you grow up with. When we got older we realized that traveling, like everything, of course had a price. One we couldn't really afford. So we dreamt ourselves to New Zealand and wandered the Californian coast in our hearts. We stood on rough cliffs of the arctic in our minds eyes and danced along white sand beaches in our conversations, instead. We traveled where we could afford to go to and worked hard to be able to visit a few places that had been in our dreams for so long - but it was never enough. Not enough to not see it all. It became our biggest dream to go abroad. To live someplace else. It was one of those dreams you hold dearly but never actually take as something that one day could be your reality.

We were restless all our youth. Felt like there was just so much to see, so much to experience. People told us that we would never be able to truly settle down, to stay still in one place. We couldn't even decide on a hobby, let alone agree on a place to live at. There was no future home for us they said. We would always search for something even better, even more exciting. We believed them. We thought we would forever be traveling, hopping from one place to an other like two hummingbirds with our wings beating faster than our hearts. We moved apartments, towns even, once every 10-12 months for a long, long time. It took years from when we graduated high school to when we first set foot on Iceland but it took only a few hours to understand that something had changed within us. Right there, on those mossy fields. If passion is like a fire then we all of a sudden burned. With hearts so full they felt like bursting. It was the first real 'this-is-it' moment of our lives. There we were, overjoyed, touched and moved by all that was around us. The blurry vision of 'moving abroad' became crystal clear. The future was not a 'we could be everything' it was a 'this could be us, right here, forever'. We didn't dream about running along that arctic shore anymore, we did run and when the wind ruffled through our hair we knew it. We felt it. There it was that 'true passion' everyone talked about. It ignited our souls and fueled our thirst for more. Our passion is Iceland. Living far north with our now husbands and spending the weekends where we feel most at home: nature. The raw and unspoiled outdoors of a country designed by fire and ice. Our passion is to share as much about our love for this wild place with you and everybody who wants to read about it, as we can. Our hearts burn for exploring every single hidden spot, for paddling through the deep cold waters, for hiking those rough deserted mountains and for building a fortress somewhere in the wilderness.

Since a few days we have our residence permit and we are in the process of emigrating from Germany and immigrating to Iceland. If we ever have kids we want them to grow up here. If we ever buy a caravan then we want to take it for weekly spins on this island that tore down our entire reality and completely rebuilt it. We want to grow old here, we want to love here, breathe here, live right here. For us, Iceland made passion possible. A country so different from the one we were born and raised in instantly felt like our natural habitat, like the core of our existence. Traveling still is a big part of our lives. There are countless countries on our list, mostly those up North but some really exotic ones, as well. We will forever want to take it all in. We will forever be intrigued by new places and spaces, by the change of smell in the air and the always different sunlight. But unlike what everybody thought our passion lied in one single place. In a country up north. It wasn't restlessness we were passionate about it was coming home.

We think there is something burning in every one of us. A yearning, a knowledge. It might be traveling, it might be a certain place, it might lie in raising kids or helping others. It might be something you haven't seen or done, yet. But we truly and honestly believe that if you find what drives you you will find your way. We certainly did not believe that a stop in Iceland would reveal our deepest passion. It could have been yet another stop. It's like that with so many things in life - if you don't at least try, if you don't set foot on uncommon ground, you never know.

One of our 'uncommon grounds to see' is Singapore. Since traveling to New Zealand and Australia both is on top of our travel list it would be a layover anyways but we are very keen on making it a stopover, instead. We would love to see the Avatar-like 'Gardens by the Bay' illuminated at night. The beaches, the culture, the temples, the beautiful colonial-style houses in Fort Canning park, the nature surrounding the metropolis (like the little island Pulau Ubin) and the fooood - it all is intriguing. It's warm there, lively and completely different to what we chose as a home. We are certain it would broaden our horizon even further - like every journey does (ask Gandalf, Frodo and all the other companions! ;D). The new campaign video of the Singapore tourism board really spoke to us. Singapore is one of the greenest cities in the world, it's a place for people with so many different passions. It's an incredible mix of so many cultures, religions and ideas in that massive metropolis and it doesn't matter where you come from - it matters where you go from there. Find yourself somewhere in all those possibilities. Find your passion.
