We are blogging since 2013 and it’s been quite the messy ride, ever since. We’ve changed topics, directions and layout more than once (make it several times) and over the course of the years kinda lost track of who we really are. It all started as a hobby - to share pictures from travels and road trips but when blogging became ‘a thing’ and we somewhat professionals we quickly grew into what everybody was doing: ‘Fashion’. We loved clothes, we really did (and still do), but with our actual style not being 'in trend' enough we quickly lost track of what we wanted to wear and more and more went for what we thought we would have to wear. Three years in we did quite good, made money that granted us an apartment in downtown Cologne, attended events and felt … misguided. So we broadened our topic range to lifestyle and included make up (which we actually never cared too much about), food, travel and personal stories. The only thing fun indeed was travel but well, we saw all of it as our job and most jobs don’t make you happy, so we stuck to it even though blogging gave us anger more often than it brought us joy. Long story short, you know where it all ended: new blog name, new design, new everything. Design broke, site went down, back to old design, back to old habits. And then finito finito - Caro quit, Linda paused and all of a sudden we found ourselves with a horizon full of opportunities. Caro began to write a book, Linda started writing concepts of what she actually would like to do, we took over one of our fav' brands Instagram account as a side job and began working as freelance writers. With that came more free time than we ever had while being full time bloggers. Weekends. Public holidays. And faded memories of all the stuff we once used to love with all our hearts.

Hiking. Biking. Climbing. Canoeing. CAMPING. (How we freaking loved camping.) Writing stories. Telling jokes. Picnics in the woods. Rays of sunlight between tree tops. Coffee in the morning when there was fog over the lakes and the air still crisp before the heat of the day started rising. The smell of nature after rain. Sitting on summits eating a cheese sandwich overlooking what felt like the entire world. Morning dips.

With all this free time on our hands we started to go on extensive hikes, again. On bike trips. We browsed for opportunities to sea-kayak in Iceland. To go climbing. To learn how to surf. For the first time in the three years that we now live in this incredible country up north we actually started to engage with it the way we would have "back in the days". Got trail maps and a camping card. Took all our equipment out from under the beds and into some of the most frequented shelves in our closets. For a few weeks we just lived in the 'now' completely, took all the opportunities we had and slowly but steadily found a way back to ourselves. The truth had been hiding under mountains of clothes we thought we needed to have and never-used make up. Radical as we are in most of our decisions we made a few with quite an impact. We raided our closets and threw out at least half of our clothes. Most of them are gifted to friends and family or being donated to the ones that actually need them, some are on their way to be sold. We cleared out our rooms in Hannover and did exactly the same there. Back to the bare necessities. Back to the stuff we WANT to wear. With clearing our heads and homes from old habits, with heading out and reconnecting with who we used to be something dawned upon us: it was never "the blogging thing" that was wrong - it was how we dealt with it. We didn’t start with what we loved and wanted to tell people about, instead, we started with what we thought people would want to read and then adapted to that. Which, naturally, made us extremely unhappy and condemn the blogosphere wholesale.

So next to the decision of clearing out this old (job) life of ours we decided to give blogging and social media one last go. 'Cause truth be told - we miss writing, connecting, exchanging opinions with you all, dearly. So we came full circle and will do it the other way around now for once, to finally work with and on a platform that will first of all make ourselves happy. We hired someone truly professional and amazing to create a website that feels like us, after all. It’s in the making. There is a whole new thing coming, a page with loads of info about all the things we truly care about. Iceland, the great outdoors and activities that come with it, traveling the northern hemisphere, self growth topics and veggie BBQ recipes ‘cause that’s the stuff we freaking love. We are dusting off the tents, cleaning the climbing shoes, educating ourselves on gear and learning even more about healthy food choices and slow living. We had to dig deep in the past in order to find those two girls (now women) we thought long-lost. J.S. Foer is right “Everything is illuminated in the light of the past”. So let’s get ready to explore together. Let’s get ready to camp. Let’s get ready to leave fashion and lifestyle blogging behind, for good and start talking ‘the great outdoors’, shall we? The new page and social channels are coming mid of July. Until then, we are prepping for camping season.

Why is camping the most amazing thing to do in summer?

  • Sleeping under the stars
  • The sounds of nature surrounding you
  • A meal cooked on the stove tastes better when eaten outside
  • Waking up to mountain views. Or lake. Or forest.
  • Coffee at dawn when the earth is quiet
  • Falling asleep with sunset and waking up with sunrise.

After browsing through all of the stuff we already own, we realized that there isn’t much missing in order to have an amazing camping season. Tents, mats, sleeping bags - all still waiting for us to finally FINALLY bring it back out. So with the necessities sorted we found ourselves asking the most important question: how do we get some amazing coffee in the morning? We are absolute coffee nerds (three different machines at home for all possible kinds of coffee, need we say more?) so hell yes, the first sip in the morning is of utmost importance! Brewing a filter coffee is one thing but what about Espresso, for example? Einar only drinks Espresso and the two of us prefer a good Latte Macchiato in the morning over almost everything else in the world (no kidding!). Keeping our fav’ almond milk cold while camping is easy peasy breezy but getting a good, dark, perfectly roasted Espresso is a tad more difficult. So the Tchibo camping weeks came in more than handy. Not only are we now equipped with some foldable pillows to sit on when the Icelandic ground is still frozen in the early mornings and some dim LED lights for when the short summer nights are asking for a tad more light, we also equipped ourselves with the super handy new Cafissimo POCKET. The portable mini Espresso maker works without electricity and with a simple pump mechanism which makes it ideal for camping, traveling and all outdoor activities. It’s tiny and fits in literally every baggage, it’s light (under 400grams) and brewing a fresh coffee has never been easier. You don’t need anything but boiling water and capsules to have bestest Espresso on the go. Waking up amidst nature, listening to the birds, the wind, the humming in the crisp morning air and then sip on a hot coffee whilst overlooking a breathtaking scenery - we can whole heartedly say that to us there's just nothing better. You can get the mini maker at Tchibo.de and in stores around the 21st of May, the same time the entire camping and outdoor program is hitting the shelves. Next to the pillows and LED lights our favorite is the backpack with cooling function. The entire selection is worth a look and available 22.05. – 19.06.2018.
